Message from Our Chaplain - "Chappy's Word of the Week "

|
Our Portrait (Editors Note- Chaplain's word has been extended for another week)
When we look in the mirror what reflection, do you see looking back? Do you see a face of love compassion and respect? Or do you see a face of hatred, lust and disrespect. What is the portrait of your life looking like? What kinds of colors are being used? What kind of care is going into the mixing of these colors? Are they being applied to the canvas of your life with care of are they just being thrown toward the canvas haphazardly? Are we using colors of hate, disgust, untruthfulness, and deceit? Or are we taking the time to paint our portrait with the colors of Love, integrity and righteousness?
Our lives are just that, “ours” but these lives were given to us as a gift from our father in heaven. Often we treat our lives as a gift we received as children, treating it with less respect due to not earning it. Only after maturing did we realize that we respect things more when earned... | New Inspirational Music Of The Week - Free Download |
This Week free inspirational music download is from recording artist Salvador’s longevity of seven years in an industry where bands fail more often than they succeed, one needs to look no further than their latest album Dismiss the Mystery due out in the summer 2006. A collection of well-rounded pop songs in the realm of Contemporary Christian yet with the scope of daring ambitious creativity, Dismiss the Mystery is more reminiscent of an era when albums were created more organically rather than songs strung together to make a product.

My father began running when he was a young boy fleeing from the Nazi
by Henia Stein
What compelled a 60+-year-old man, who had been diagnosed previously with blockages of his heart but refused surgery, to begin running marathons? Here is an excerpt of his story in his own words.
Bilgoraj, Poland: It was a beautiful summer day. Everything was wonderful; the birds were singing, the fields and gardens were dressed like a holiday in velvet green. Children were playing soccer on the field. But all at once, everything becomes very still. Suddenly, overhead in the sky are a few airplanes. The people in the street below start to panic and so it begins -- everywhere in town, people are talking about war. The drummer on the street begins to beat his drum and he relays the bad news... Germany declares war on Poland....Read More |

Coming Home
by Ed Chinn
In the movie, Cast Away, Tom Hanks’ character, “Chuck Noland,” suffers a horrific airplane crash in the vast Pacific Ocean. After washing up on an island, Chuck spends several years (and most of the movie) in survival mode.
Although the movie was engrossing, it was also dishonest. Not one time does Chuck ever pray. No, I was not expecting a “Christian” movie. But, it is terribly unrealistic to portray a human surviving something as harrowing as a plane crash and then spending years alone on an island without ever looking up. He never even mutters, “Oh, God” or “help me.” How could anyone, surrounded by thousands of miles of sea, gaze into the engrossing blackness of a midnight sky without ever crying out to the great mystery up there?........ Those Nasty Habits
What's your husband's most annoying habit? Is it the way he slurps his cereal or cracks his knuckles? Is it the way he breathes, as one woman actually complained?
The longer you've been married, the longer your list of pet peeves is bound to be. It's not so much that your spouse has added more bad habits over the years, but simply that the ones that were easy to put up with in the early days of your marriage have gradually eaten away at your nerves.
Now they've reached that really tender spot that makes you yell "Ouch!" — and the honeymoon Novocain has worn off... Read More |
