Deputy beaten by Gwinnett County inmate
A Gwinnett County deputy was treated at a hospital after an inmate allegedly beat him, Channel 2 Action News reports.
William Lamb was unconscious and nonresponsive when an ambulance arrived at the Gwinnett County Jail on Wednesday.
According to Channel 2, James Washington, the inmate accused of beating Lamb, hit the deputy in the face and proceeded to slam his head on the concrete floor.
Other inmates pulled Washington off Lamb until officials could help, the station reported.
Lamb was treated for his injuries and released, Channel 2 said.
Washington was in jail on charges of criminal damage to property and second-degree violation of probation.
Charges against him in the attack are pending, Channel 2 said.
