Solano inmate released in error back in custody
Temporarily misplaced after a bizarre odyssey between two state prisons and the Solano County Jail, 30-year-old state prison parolee Dante Rodgers is believed to be back in custody.
Rodgers, who was supposed to have been released on parole in March, was held at the California Medical Facility in Vacaville after an alleged battery upon a non-prisoner, the Solano County District Attorney's Office reported.
He was transported to San Quentin State Prison after that and later booked at Solano County Jail in Fairfield to answer the battery complaint in court. Subsequently arraigned in Solano County Superior Court, Rodgers was supposed to appear there for a readiness conference Tuesday, but he was nowhere to be found.
The DA's Office reported that miscommunications about law enforcement wants and holds on Rodgers resulted in confusion about his custody status. He was first taken back to San Quentin, then ordered returned to Solano County Jail and inadvertently released in Fairfield a short time later.
Rodgers apparently did what he was supposed to do and later reported to state parole authorities in Oakland. Unfortunately, he was supposed to have reported to the parole office in Hayward, according to the DA's Office.
Parole authorities eventually contacted Rodgers again Wednesday and he was held in Alameda County pending his return to either state or Solano County custody.
No date has yet been scheduled for his return to Solano County Superior Court.
