Bomb Squad Called To Polk County Jail
DES MOINES, Iowa -- The bomb squad was called Monday afternoon to the Polk County Jail.
The officials said that at 3:18 p.m., ambulance crews, fire trucks, bomb squad personnel and other officers and deputies were called to the jail after a suspicious brief case was found.
Officials said the brief case's contents were unknown. A person who was arrested and brought to jail had the brief case in his/her possession, officials said.
Jail employees examined the contents by placing it in an x-ray machine and said they were concerned by what they saw. The bomb squad was notified as employees and public visitors were evacuated from the area.
The bomb quad determined the the brief case was not a bomb.
