S.C. jail inmate caught after brief escape
LANCASTER, S.C. -- An S.C. jail inmate has been recaptured after a brief escape.
The Herald of Rock Hill reported that 18-year-old Raymond Lewis Bailey of Heath Springs escaped from Lancaster County sheriff's deputies late Tuesday morning.
Bailey was recaptured a short time later.
He had been taken from the jail to recover guns he was accused of taking in a burglary earlier this week.
Bailey and two investigators were in a utility right of way when they came to a small stream and removed the leg irons and belly chain so Bailey could cross the stream.
Deputies say Bailey ran into the woods but was found a short time later.
